Sunday mornings

We enjoy lazy family Sunday mornings with breakfast and the newspaper. This past week, we grew impatient with not being allowed to sit at the table and read with our Mama and Daddy. So we dragged our booster chairs over to the table. Our parents took the hint, and and we had a very nice time.

Anna shows our Daddy the interesting parts of the ad papers.

Julia picked up a pen and start drawing on her paper, just like our Daddy does every day. He calls it 'Sudoku' and seems to concentrate really hard on it, but Julia says it isn't nearly that hard.

Campfire

Last week we went for a walk and picked up two bags full of leaves and sticks. That evening, we took our bags and some firewood and went to Promontory Point for a campfire.

There were a few false starts, but eventually our Daddy got a blaze going, assisted by the gale-force winds blowing in off the lake.

We were a little unsure of the fire at first.

After the fire was up and going, though, we got hot dogs and marshmallows and had a nice cuddle with Mama, Daddy, and Gramee.

Physics shills

While we may not look all that happy in this picture, we certainly attracted plenty of attention to the Physics table at our Daddy's work last weekend.

Garfield Park Conservatory

We took a sunny but chilly day and went to the Garfield Park Conservatory.

We enjoyed our first two trips down the slide, but the last one wasn't as fun.

Anna reluctantly posed for some pictures

while Julia was more willing to participate.

We showed our monkeys all the fish in the pond in the Fern Room and signed "fish" over and over again!

Physics lectures

Our Daddy tries hard to prepare good lectures, but he works with some pretty dry material. We try to make sure he livens them up with some facts about balls, cows, or telephones.

Listen up, I'm about to give you some really good stuff.

Got it, Daddy? Good!

Meet a llama

We went to the pumpkin farm a few weeks ago (more on that later), and while we were there, we went to the petting zoo. Some nice people gave us some carrots so we could feed the farm animals.

Having had limited encounters with llamas before, we were a little shy at first.

The llamas, on the other hand, seemed to have plenty of experience with small girls.

We enjoyed our encounter with wildlife. As city kids, this is as good as it gets for us!

Trip to the Field Museum

We have been very busy lately; clearly we have been too busy to update our blog.

Recently, we went to the Field Museum for the first time.

Here is our Tyrannosaur impression:

Us and some pirates

We aren't sure what dinosaurs and pirates have in common, but we enjoyed our trip!

Fun with my sister

We love running around, and we have recently discovered that running around is even more fun with a sister.

As a side note, aren't these outfits adorable? Thanks, Gramee!

Mmm mmm good

Our Mama rues the day she casually picked up her bowl of soup to drink the last of the broth.

For us, of course, that day marks one of the highlights of our eating life thus far.
