Independence, Missouri

 We didn't plan to spend all our time in Independence, MO at another depot.  But this one was so interesting and so well-guided that we did.  

And then we headed back off into the sunset.

Kansas City highlight

Inexplicably, one of the highlights of our trip to Kansas City was seeing the Kansas City Federal Reserve.  We went twice.  

No one enjoys federal economic policy quite like my kids.

All aboard!

We rode the Amtrak to  Kansas City. 

We found our seats and settled in.

We had dinner in the dining car.

Julia lost another tooth during dinner!

Then we found seats in the observation car and rode west.  We crossed the Mississippi, watched the sunset, and saw a huge brush fire from the observation car.

Finally we arrived in Kansas City.  

We had a great time on the train.  We'll be back!

Fire and ice Easter

Unlike many years, it was a beautiful day for a fire and Easter eggs. Daddy smoked us a ham and Uncle Brendan came over, and we had a great time.
