I was beside myself to receive a big kid bike for my birthday. I did not waste a moment hestitating, pretending that I did not know how to use it, or exercising natural caution when it was presented to me. I jumped on and started pedaling.

Later my sisters clambored for a "real" bike ride, now that they have done away with their training wheels. Mama and Daddy complied, and leaving me to fuss for the entire ride that I was the only one who did not get to ride a bike.

The girls rode two and a half miles on the bike path-- not bad!
