The more things change...

The arrival to the world of a new friend has made our Mama reminisce about when John was a tiny baby. Here we are on campus about 2 weeks after he was born.

Sorry, Mama. Can't stay small forever. But we can always go back to campus and run around!

John's twin?

We are both white and kind of round.

Just me and my brother the propane tank, going for a walk.

If you guessed

Illinois Department of Tollways Safety Day you were correct!!
It was an impulse stop on our way home from the arboretum, but we had a great time.

The state police could not have been friendlier or more educational.
"Wear your sunglasses like this, little girl"

And they had a ton of vehicles for us to climb on!
Police cars: marked and unmarked, a firetruck, a snowplow, a minuteman truck. We could have stayed all afternoon!

Hit the road

You'll never guess where we went...

Heat wave!

It's been hot-hot-hot here these past few days. We have addressed the heat issue in the best possible way: popsicles!

And then a bath.

57th St. Beach

Did we mention we got to go to the beach when our Grandma Linda was here? The beach is much more fun with a 1:1 adult: child ratio. Grandma played with John and we got to swim with our Mama and Da.

And of course she was happy to help us fetch buckets of water from the lake for our sand games. Thanks, Grandma!!

Return to the scene of the crime

Most kids do not revisit their birthplaces to have cake on their birthdays?

Well. News to me.

Birthday cake

We had monkey cake (er, banana cake in the shape of a monkey) for my birthday.

I could not have been more thoughtful or deliberate about it.

Contemplative, in fact.

But content.

More, please!

Patriots

Happy Independence Day from three little patriots!

Our Mama tried repeatedly to get a picture of all three of us together... but she was not successful!

Picnics!

Summertime means eating outside as much as possible. To that end, we have gone on a picnic for three consecutive days.
Ravinia:

Promontory Point:

Nichols Park, after the parade:

Can we make it four in a row?? We hope so!
