One of those days

Sometimes you just have a boots-and-dino-jam kind of morning.

Universal precautions

When performing a well-child exam, always practice good hand hygiene.

Now then... where did we leave our stethescope?

Portable baby

Our parents are overly protective of how John spends his time. We think he is perfectly safe in our hands. See?

Hanging out with Daddy

My first sudoku: 4 days old.

My Mama and Da, not being accostumed to a single baby, do not have a stroller for me yet. This is fine with me, as I really enjoy the Baby Bjorn.

And, of course, I am already very helpful at Powerpointing astronomy.

Living doll

Don't tell the girls, but I am the perfect size for some of their doll furniture.

Big sisterhood

Being a big sister is so easy, Julia can do it with no hands!!

Hi.

Oh, hi. My name is John. I'm new here.

Not sure if my big sisters have mentioned me, but they've been expecting me for awhile. I made a dramatic entrance into their lives on July 9. After letting her have 5 extra days of pregnancy and a very quiet morning at home, I informed our Mama that I was ready to appear, and in the time it took our Daddy to get everyone's shoes on and get some phone calls made, I decided it was time to be born. Right then. Right there on the floor of the bathroom.

I came out pink and screaming. Daddy came out pale and frantic, but he did a great job helping me come into the world. Then it was time to meet my big sisters before we went over to the hospital. They were able to identify me right away as the Baby!

Good job, Daddy! Who knew they taught childbirth in physics school?

Haircuts!

After 6 months without a real haircut, we were getting just a touch shaggy, as demonstrated in these pictures from July 4.

So our Mama and our Daddy took us to see Miss Anna again. This time we were very well-behaved and sat or stood quietly while she cut our hair.

We are naturally adorable, but the new haircuts really accentuate the cuteness.

Visitors

Our Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Steve, and Aunt Karen all came to visit for the weekend. We had a nice time playing and playing with them.

Karen brought an amazing new toy: the inflatable mattress! What a good time we had with that.

We helped Steve through his first 6 or 8 readings of My World, and other favorites. It took him awhile to catch on (we point to pictures, he names them), but once he figured it out he was very clever.

We had a picnic at the parade.

And afterwards it was time to cool off in our new pool from Aunt Karen. This one is much bigger, but we are still adept at climbing in, climbing out, climbing in...

Our Mama and Daddy were glad there was someone else to chase after us for a few days. We can be exhausting!

Happy Fourth of July!

Happy Fourth of July from two enthusiastic little patriots!

We went to our neighborhood parade, and our enthusiasm increased while we were there. We had a nice lunch and watched all the kids and dogs and bikes and drums and horses. It was hot and sticky, so we were glad to have a spot in the shade!

Athletic training

All parents worth their salt know that if you want to guarantee your child's success in athletics, you must start early. Sadly, our Mama and Daddy have already missed their opportunity to get us started early. At 2 years and 3 months old, we are past our prime already.

That did not stop our Daddy from wanting to teach us a little bit about baseball. We practiced swinging a bat.

And then running the bases.

We had a nice time, but we remain easily distracted. Look! Dirt!
