Atlantic Ocean

One of our most favorite parts of South Carolina's beach was the ocean. We loved running and splashing, and we fearlessly faced chest-high waves. Our Mama and Daddy had enough caution for all of us.

Our Daddy (that speck in the distance) enjoyed the water as well.

Fort Sumter

We went with our Mama and Daddy and our Uncle Pack to visit Fort Sumter, where the first shots of the Civil War were exchanged. We cannot imagine why anyone would spend 2 hours here instead of the beach, but Mama says we need to get used to it.

We did enjoy the boat ride there.

And we enjoyed exploring the old parts of the fort and trying to climb on the historic artifacts.

Really, it wasn't that bad at all. We'd go again!

The beach

We went to the beach everyday, sometimes several times a day. We were lucky that it was just a short walk from the house.

We had snacks there.

We played in the sand.

We found seashells.

We roped our Grandpa into fetching us water-- no big deal at high tide, but sometimes a hike at low tide!

We took a ride on our Daddy!

We enjoyed it; it is not clear if our Daddy did!

And we had great weather everyday.

South Carolina: getting there

We took our third lifetime airplane trip to get to Charleston. Now that we are two, the FAA says that we are entitled to our own seats! The upsides: we did not have to sit on our parents' laps for 2.5 hours. The downsides: we cost $300 apiece to sit in our carseats instead!

We were good girls on the airplane. We ran through all of Mama's carefully packed books, games, activities, and distractions just in time to land!

Luckily we had our Uncle Pack with us to help haul carseats (and us!) around. We had all had a busy day by the time we landed, so Anna took a cue from Pack about her first official South Carolina activity.

Trip to South Carolina

We have recently returned from a trip to South Carolina with our Mama, our Daddy, and the rest of the Rowlands: Gramee, Grandpa, Brendan and Alissa, John, and Patrick.

You'll be hearing more about our trip--it was wonderful-- but for now, here are some pictures of our favorite part: the beach.

Big sister practice

Our Mama and Da continue to talk about a new baby coming to live with us. We are not sure what they are talking about, but we are practicing our baby-care skills.

We are downright skillful with diapers.

We can swaddle like the best of them!

Quiet days

We have had some quiet--or at least not particularly photogenic--days lately, so to keep you amused, here are some more pictures of us at Promontory Point last week.

Dandelion girls

We are not allowed to pick flowers, but our Mama said we could help the gardeners at the Point clear the dandelions. They look like flowers to us, but she was clear in the distinction.

Promontory point

We picked a beautiful day to head to Promontory point. It was warm but fiercely windy... perfect for bubbles.

We did not stay on the blanket for long.

We love being outside... does it show?

Our Mama did feel a little bad that we all got a little sunburnt. That lake breeze fools you into thinking you don't need sunblock or a hat!
