A new lawn

Nearly a year after we moved to our new house, our Mama and Daddy finally have a yard for us to play in that is less than 95% dirt. They dug up all the weeds and our Daddy smoothed and leveled the dirt. Then our Daddy and our Uncle Pack put down some sod, and just like that we have a lawn!!

Not only is a revolution in backyard playing, it looks so nice!

Party on the quad!

We live just a few blocks from the University of Chicago, so when our Mama got an email about a party on the quad, we put on our party clothes and went right over.

It turned out to be a water party with lots of other kids there. As we do enjoy the water and it was a very hot day, we had a wonderful time on the slip-n-slide.

We also had our first experience with Snowcones.

We like Snowcones very much, nearly as much as we like frozen custard.

Happy Father's Day

We had cards to give to our Daddy to celebrate Father's Day.

Tasty, tasty cards.

Splash!

Yesterday was our first true day of summer. Two rounds of severe thunderstorms left us hot and sticky, so imagine how excited we were to go to the playground and find that the fountain was on! There were lots of big kids there, but we didn't let them stop us from splashing and playing.

We had such a good time. Next time our Mama and Daddy should bring towels. Or at least dry diapers!

Intro to evidence-based medicine

Our Mama frequently has articles in this journal, so she is happy to share with us.

It is high praise for any publication to trump "But Not the Hippopotamus"

A little advanced for a couple of toddlers, but then, we are two pretty smart little girls.

Trip to Notre Dame

We went back to Notre Dame during our camping trip. The weather was much improved over our first visit.

We had a nice time bonding with our Daddy.

We visited our Daddy's old dorm, Dillon.

We climbed the steps of the Main Building.

We did not realize that "higher education" was a literal term.

Camping diet

Other food-related highlights from our trip include dill pickles at Amish Acres:

And frozen custard:

Camping agenda

One of the many things we enjoyed about vacation was the loose approach to mealtimes. We got to toddle around the cabin with our bottles of milk-- a rare treat for us!

And we got to have breakfast in our stroller!

We enjoyed eating on the floor, as well, especially since at the cabin we did not have to scavenge old Cheerios from under the highchairs.

Potato Creek

We just got back from our vacation to Potato Creek State Park in Indiana. No tents or campfires for us this year, though; our Mama rented us a really nice cabin with a refrigerator for our milk and running water. We loved playing outside.
